Ekaterina Bortsova is one of the most advanced and contemporary artists. She was born in Ukraine. She started her path as an artist at the Kharkov Art School, specializing in fine and decorative arts, and received the qualification of an artist, painting performer and a teacher.

She works in the fields of painting, graphics, prefers various genres: portrait, still life, landscape. The portrait genre covers a significant part of her work. The disclosure of the characters of people through her work is of particular interest.

Bortsova is a sensitive master who follows the current events in the outside world. The ArtZip online gallery presents the series “The Way to My Heart”, which is based on a paper map. The conceptual core of this project is made out of maps of various cities and countries. Ekaterina travels a lot and the maps used in this series represent the imprint of past experiences. The images painted on top of the maps are the quintessence of modern society. Avenues, streets and alleys are like veins burst through their bodies. The poses of the characters can be perceived both as openness and as some kind of a road sign. Also, Ekaterina works in giclee technique, prints, and posters.
