Tatyana Yan was born in Moscow in 1965. I n 1987 she graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute (Dmitry Bisti’s workshop).

Her first art works were performed in the etching and lithography technique, and she also participated in exhibitions as a graphic artist. Since 1995 she has been active in paintings exhibitions. Over thirty one-man exhibitions of Tatyana Yan have taken place since then, and she participated in over eighty group exhibitions in Russia and Europe.

In addition to the easel painting, the artist takes part in stage projects: in 2001 she was an artist of the Taganka Theater play “Socrates / Oracle”, directed by Yuri Lyubimov; in 2004 a big pictorial cycle was written “Seven Words of the Savior on the Cross” for a musical performance to the music of Joseph Haydn (performed by Opus Posth, Tatyana Grindenko).

Tatyana Yan also works as a graphic designer, each of her books is a conceptual project with a unique author’s graphic series: “De Vita Sua” by St. Gregory the Theologian, 2011, Greek-Latin cabinet; two-volume “Gardens” by Olga Sedakova / Philippe Zhakote, 2014, “Art Volkhonka; “Song of Songs and the Book of Ruth” (unpublished). Books that have been designed: album “Natalya Glebova”, 2010; “Circle: Contemporary Art of Dagestan”, 2001; Vladimir Yakovlev, Catalogue, 1996, etc.

In 2005, Tatyana Yan was awarded with the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts for the series of works “The Way to Cappadocia”. Lives and works in Moscow.
